Если в Нью Йорке живут и работают под прикрытием инопланетяне, замаскировавшись под людей как в фильме "Men in black", то это здесь - в мастерской по ремонту и изготовлению ключей на углу седьмой авеню и Мортон стрит. Я всегда так думал, даже до того как вышел первый фильм из трилогии "Мужчины в чёрном", впервые-то я увидел эту будочку еще в 95-ом году, а открылась она аж в 1968-ом. Поначалу сфотографировать Мастера не получилось - слишком уж большой поток посетителей к нему выстроился.

UPD: Поэтому я на следующий день вернулся сюда снова, чтобы спросить сколько лет Мастер работает на этом месте? На его сайте написано что с 1987 года, а на табличке над будкой сказано что с 1968. Мастер был дружелюбен и ответил что на самом деле с 1980-го, а до этого он работал на Union Square.

Ну точно марсианин под прикрытием. А ведь он мог и Бродскому ключи ваять, тот прямо за углом жил.

They are indeed well known in the Village, old timers from the times the Village was entirely Italian, of the kind that were almost entirely replaced by wall street and google employees, except in the few remaining rent controlled apartments.
A few years ago he tried to expand into art by leasing a corner glass building on 7th and Commerce, remnants of the defunct gas station (you MUST read http://www.scoutingny.com/1970s-porno-reveals-long-gone-west-village-gas-station-100-work-safe-i-promise/ !! :)) and making it his art gallery for large "canvasses" made of keys, while his son was running the locksmith business - which btw is THE smallest free standing building in Manhattan, also remnants of the time when normal size lot was cut by the city's eminent domain to make room for 7th avenue and red line subway under it - but that failed miserably, plus a speeding car crushed into the building and broke some of the glass panes. It's now unused again, and he's back in his locksmith place. Which btw is very overpriced for simple key copying :)

Cтранно что у них на вывеске написано что они работают с 1968 года, а на сайте - что с 1987
